NFL Predictions

Here are my predictions for the 2013-14 NFL season: NFC East - The Washington Redskins won the NFC East division by a game in 2012 but will have a tough time defending their title. Quarterback Robert Griffin III is coming off a serious injury, and I have to think teams will be able to do a better job of slowing him down now that they have a season’s worth of game film to dissect. I don’t expect any team to run away with the division, but I believe the New York Giants have the best chance to win it with Eli Manning, the best quarterback in the division, at the controls. 1. New York Giants...

Iowa Hawkeyes

The 2012 season was an ugly one for Iowa. The Hawkeyes were 4-2 through the first half of the schedule, including 2-0 in Big Ten play, but lost their final six games. It was their worst season since 2000 when they went 3-9. They had won at least six games in 11 consecutive seasons prior to last year’s debacle. The Hawkeyes have played in a bowl 10 of the last 12 years but are in danger of missing out on the postseason for a second straight year – something that hasn’t happened since the 1998-2000 seasons. Last Season Results Record: 4-8 Big Ten (Legends): Tied-5th Place (2-6) ATS:...

USC

USC, which ranked No. 1 nationally heading into the 2012 season, is coming off a terribly disappointing 7-6 campaign. The Trojans got off to a promising 6-1 start but finished 1-5. Now, head coach Lane Kiffin enters 2013 sitting squarely on the hot seat.  Kiffin wouldn’t be back this season if it were up to the USC backers that took a blood bath at the betting window. Last Season Results Record: 7-6 Pac-12 (South): Tied-2nd Place (5-4) ATS: 3-10-0 Over/Under: 5-8-0 Offense USC returns eight starters on offense, but it will be tough to replace the ones that were lost. I think it’s safe...

Penn State

Penn State exceeded expectations in Bill O’Brien’s first year on the job. Things were bleak in Happy Valley following the Sandusky scandal, and the team easily could have folded following an 0-2 start, but O’Brien found a way to rally the troops. The Nittany Lions went on to win eight of their final 10 games and were a terrific investment for sports bettors all season long. Last Season Results Record: 8-4 Big Ten (Leaders): 2nd Place (6-2) ATS: 9-2-1 Over/Under: 7-5-0 Offense The play of the offense was a big reason why the Nittany Lions were so successful in 2012. They ranked...
